Boston Bruins goaltender Michael DiPietro took full accountability after a 4-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild on October 3. DiPietro stopped 26 of 29 shots in his first start for Boston, keeping the team within striking distance before Minnesota pulled away. Following the defeat, DiPietro stated that he owned the outcome and was determined to improve.
Tanner Jeannot opened the scoring for Boston, but power-play goals from Kirill Kaprizov and Quinn Hughes propelled the Wild ahead. Bruins head coach Marco Sturm cited special teams as the deciding factor, while praising DiPietro, who earned his promotion following consecutive AHL outstanding goaltender awards with the Providence Bruins.
