Dallas loses a vital defensive anchor as Oskar Bäck’s absence forces a reshuffle. The shorthanded unit must now adapt to protect its top-five league ranking without its specialist.

The Dallas Stars placed depth forward Oskar Bäck on injured reserve on Friday due to an upper-body injury. The roster move is retroactive to October 14, temporarily sidelining the key penalty kill specialist.
Over the past three seasons, the 26-year-old forward has logged the second-most penalty kill minutes among Stars forwards behind Sam Steel. Bäck joins Matt Duchene on injured reserve, though he is reportedly expected to face a much shorter recovery timeline.
