The Ottawa Senators defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-1 on Monday night at Prudential Center. Arseny Gritsyuk scored the lone goal for New Jersey late in the third period, assisted by Jack Hughes, but it was not enough to overcome Ottawa's offense. Shane Pinto, Stephen Halliday, Tim Stutzle, and Tyler Kleven all scored for the visiting Senators.
Ottawa goaltender Linus Ullmark stopped 29 of 30 shots to earn the victory, while New Jersey goalie Nico Daws made 16 saves on 19 shots. The game also featured a first-period incident where Devils forward Anthony Mantha received a five-minute major penalty for boarding Nikolas Matinpalo, who left with an upper-body injury.
