One shutout was all it took. James Reimer went from a Wolf Pack tryout to a Rangers contract, and the corresponding moves send two players back to Hartford.

The New York Rangers have signed veteran goaltender James Reimer to a one-year contract addressing an organizational shortage at the position. Reimer initially joined the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack on a tryout basis before earning the NHL deal. In his debut for Hartford on Friday, the 16-year veteran stopped all 35 shots to secure a 2-0 shutout victory over the Providence Bruins.
With Joonas Korpisalo sidelined due to a foot infection, Reimer will provide veteran depth behind Dylan Garand for the Rangers. In corresponding roster moves, the team assigned goaltender Spencer Martin and defenseman Matthew Robertson to Hartford.
