Chris Johnston said on TSN Insider Trading Tuesday that things have changed a bit over the past 24 hours with defenseman Simon Edvinsson. The Detroit Red Wings still haven’t signed him to an extension, but there was movement this week…
Defenseman Simon Edvinsson has returned to North America to skate with a trainer, but no contract agreement or trade is imminent with the Detroit Red Wings. Chris Johnston reported on TSN Insider Trading that Edvinsson left Sweden to focus on conditioning on the east coast, bringing him closer to NHL action.
Edvinsson must sign a contract before December 1, 2026, to play during the current season. The Red Wings reportedly prefer to extend the defenseman rather than trade him, despite inquiries from multiple rival teams to interim general manager Shawn Horcoff regarding Detroit's high asking price.
