The Dylan Larkin trade saga has spilled into the start of the regular season for the Detroit Red Wings, raising more questions than answers, according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli.
Rival NHL executives have labeled the Detroit Red Wings' trade demands for captain Dylan Larkin as unrealistic, according to reporting from insider Frank Seravalli. Detroit has reportedly asked teams for a younger version of Larkin in return, while another interested general manager stated the Red Wings have refused to clearly define their asking price, stalling potential trade negotiations.
Meanwhile, Larkin's availability for the regular season opener remains uncertain due to an undisclosed injury, which some around the league suspect serves as a cover for the ongoing standoff. Holding Larkin out avoids injury risks and allows Detroit to maintain his $8 million salary to stay above the league's salary cap floor.
