Connor Hellebuyck is finally speaking out about his messy divorce from the Winnipeg Jets.

Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck addressed his departure from the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, sharing a statement on social media following his trade to the New Jersey Devils. The 33-year-old explained that requesting a trade was an extremely difficult decision driven by challenging personal circumstances involving his family, which he chose to keep private. He expressed gratitude to team management, teammates, and Winnipeg fans while acknowledging their frustration.
Hellebuyck was traded after refusing to report to training camp, netting Winnipeg a return package that included Dawson Mercer, Nick Bjugstad, and Nico Daws. The goaltender, who won three Vezina trophies with the Jets, has started 3-0 with New Jersey and is scheduled to make his return to Winnipeg next Tuesday.
