Exclusive: Rangers dumped Dan Purdy over Raskin fiasco

Rangers parted ways with technical director Dan Purdy after chairman Andrew Cavenagh blocked a proposed departure for midfielder Nicolas Raskin. Purdy had reportedly negotiated a loan deal with an option to buy with Turkish club Besiktas. Cavenagh intervened to stop the transaction, demanding that the Belgian international only leave for what the club considers his full permanent market value.

The intervention came after Rangers and Besiktas had initially agreed terms on the temporary transfer. Cavenagh refused to sanction a loan for the midfielder, hastening Purdy's exit from Ibrox and leaving Raskin at the Scottish Premiership club until an acceptable transfer offer is made.
