Avalanche Submit 20-Man Roster On Eve of 2026-27 Season

The Colorado Avalanche submitted a 20-man roster ahead of the NHL deadline on Monday, featuring two goaltenders, seven defensemen, and 11 forwards. The team enters the 2026-27 season opener against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday at Ball Arena facing injury concerns. Forwards Logan O'Connor and Zachary L'Heureux were both placed on injured reserve and are currently listed as day-to-day by head coach Jared Bednar.

Bednar expects an update on O'Connor and L'Heureux on Tuesday, which could allow the club to expand to a 22-man roster including defenseman Noah Juulsen. If neither forward is cleared, salary cap restrictions could force Colorado to dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen. The Avalanche also carry approximately $277,000 in cap hits from Trent Miner, Taylor Makar, and Georgii Merkulov on non-active injured reserve.
