George Russell's engine penalty for the Singapore Grand Prix has been confirmed.

The FIA has officially confirmed that Mercedes driver George Russell will receive a back-of-the-grid penalty for the Singapore Grand Prix. Russell exceeded his power unit allocation after suffering an engine failure during the previous race. The British driver has taken on six fresh power unit components, including a new internal combustion engine and turbocharger, triggering an automatic grid drop.
Russell revealed that he will likely have to take an additional grid penalty before the end of the season. He entered the Singapore weekend trailing his Mercedes teammate and championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli by 84 points. Additionally, Mercedes is running a split setup across the weekend, with Russell utilizing an older-specification aerodynamic package.
