Munetaka Murakami has wasted little time turning the Chicago White Sox into a must-watch team. His 35 homers and infectious personality have brought the White Sox into focus in just his debut season.
Munetaka Murakami hit a crucial two-run home run to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 3-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 of the ALDS on Saturday. Following the 440-foot blast at Progressive Field, Murakami drew attention for an intense celebratory shout. When asked about the post-homer outburst, Murakami told reporters that while he could not explain his exact words, they were "a little bit dirty."
The fourth-inning blast off rookie left-hander Parker Messick followed a leadoff single by Miguel Vargas. Murakami signed a two-year, $34 million deal with Chicago in December 2025 and hit 35 regular-season home runs. The win gives the White Sox a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series as they seek their first ALCS appearance since 2005.
