Avalanche make Final Cuts heading into Opening Night

The Colorado Avalanche completed their final roster cuts following a four-game preseason schedule, ahead of their 2026-27 season opener against the LA Kings on September 30. Rookie forward TJ Hughes has secured a roster spot for now, while several players were assigned to the AHL's Colorado Eagles. Those placed on waivers include Vinnie Hinostroza, Fabian Lysell, Tristen Nielsen, Adam Beckman, Wyatt Aamodt, and Keaton Middleton.

Several players who did not require waivers, including Gavin Brindley, Sean Behrens, and Ilya Nabokov, were directly sent down. Injury situations complicate the roster, with goaltender Trent Miner sidelined and forwards Taylor Makar, Georgii Merkulov, Zach L’Heureux, and Logan O’Connor managing minor issues. With cap constraints limiting Colorado to 22 players, additional roster moves are expected before the deadline.
