T.J. Hughes’ depth chart status could be great news for the Avalanche

Winger T.J. Hughes has officially made the Colorado Avalanche roster as the team trimmed down its lineup ahead of the deadline. The 24-year-old forward secured his spot following an impressive training camp and preseason, highlighted by a hat trick performance against the Winnipeg Jets on September 25 at Ball Arena.

Head coach Jared Bednar is placing Hughes on Colorado's top power play unit to start the season. The team is aiming to revamp a unit that ranked 27th across the league last regular season after converting just 17.1% of opportunities.
