The Ottawa Senators could find a replacement for William Eklund in a former Montreal Canadiens forward, now a UFA.

The Ottawa Senators are considering potential replacements after winger William Eklund suffered a torn ankle tendon expected to sideline him for 10 to 12 weeks. According to insider Bruce Garrioch, the Senators previously held talks with free agent forward Patrik Laine, formerly of the Montreal Canadiens, following outreach from Laine's camp.
Writer Nestor Quixtan argues that Laine could boost Ottawa's struggling power play on a short-term, low-cost contract. While Garrioch indicated no signing is imminent, he noted that free agents like Laine or Vladimir Tarasenko remain viable options for the Senators.
